Canine Good Citizen
The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program stresses basic good manners for dogs and responsible dog-ownership for people. All dogs, whether purebred or mixed-bred, are eligible to participate.
To be recognized as a Canine Good Citizen, dogs must pass a ten-step test and owners must sign a responsible ownership pledge. The test is designed to simulate real-life situations, showing that your dog is polite and mannerly around other people and dogs. There is no age limit, and dogs may re-take the test as often as necessary. Dogs who pass the test are awarded a certificate from the AKC .
